School Resource Officers

In partnership with the Town of Danville, Danville Community School Corporation has two full-time school resource officers (SROs).
All of our school resource officers are full-time law enforcement officers with sworn law enforcement authority who are trained in school-based policing and crisis response. All of our officers are certified school resource officers and utilize the triad concept school-based policing of law enforcement officer, counselor and educator.MEET OUR SROs
Matthew Oliphant began his career with the Danville Metropolitan Police Department in 2002, after receiving his Criminal Justice Degree from Vincennes University. He worked as a Patrol Officer and Detective before assuming the full time role of School Resource Officer at Danville Community School Corporation in 2015. Matthew also works for the Town of Clayton where he has been the Town Marshal of the Clayton Police Department since 2010.
He is a member of the Indiana School Resource Officer Association, National Association of School Resource Officers, Hendricks County Fraternal Order of Police, Kiwanis Club of Danville and the Hendricks County School Safety Commission. He continues to serve on the Operations Board of the Hendricks County Communications Center, as well as the Executive Board of the Hendricks County Substance Abuse Task Force.

Derek Wodtke began his career with the Danville Metropolitan Police Department in March of 2019. Prior to joining Danville, he worked with the Hendricks County Sheriff’s Department where he was a jail, transport and courthouse deputy. Officer Wodtke served in the U.S. Navy after graduating from Danville Community High School in 2007 where he served with VFA-81, attached to the USS Carl Vinson from 2008-2012. He did three deployments in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and New Dawn.
