Grant Spotlight - Gulley
Stop by the kids section of any library and you’ll find some of the most well used books are the Clifford the Big Red Dog series. A favorite for many kids leads to books that wear out more quickly than others.
Mrs. Joan Gulley, librarian at Danville North Elementary, applied for a grant through the DCEF to help offset the cost of replacing the entire series. Mrs. Gulley is only allotted so much money per year for book replacement, so this grant helped her replace the entire series. Many of the old books had been taped, glued, re-taped and some had to be discarded due to years of use.
Twenty-five books were put into circulation this fall and, according to Mrs. Gulley, this project was a total success! Your generosity helped this and many other projects come to life this fall.
