COVID-19 Resources

DCSC administration continues to monitor information about COVID-19. We continue to take extra time to sanitize and disinfect high-traffic areas and surfaces more frequently. As a reminder, medical professionals recommend the following tips to prevent the spread of illness:

  • Regularly washing hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, or using an alcohol-based hand sanitizer if washing with soap and water is not immediately available.
  • Avoid touching eyes, nose, and/or mouth.
  • Avoiding close contact with people who are sick.
  • Staying home when experiencing symptoms such as fever or vomiting. Students and staff should be fever free without the assistance of medications (like Tylenol) for 24 hours before returning to school.
  • Covering coughs and sneezes with tissues and disposing of tissue, or with the inside of the elbow.
  • Cleaning and disinfecting frequently touched objects and surfaces.

July 2021 Update

We know you have all been anxiously awaiting news for the 2021-2022 school year. Below, you will find some of the preliminary protocol guidelines discussed at the DCSC Board of School Trustees regular meeting in July 2021. As you all know very well from the 2020-2021 school year, our plans are always flexible and we adapt to new situations each day. This snapshot is a great way to start thinking about the expectations for the new school year.

Additionally, please note that the DCSC Online program will not be offered for the 2021-2022 school year. Students with an Individualized Education Program (IEP) or 504 Plan, however, may have a virtual program supplied to them as needed. If your child qualifies with an IEP or 504 Plan, please contact the Administration Office during business hours for more information.

When students are in quarantine for COVID-19 illness or exposure, we will continue to provide lessons and materials through Schoology that students will be able to take part in on a daily basis, much like we would on an eLearning Day. Some teachers may interact with their students live if they choose to do so.

More information will be communicated with you from your child's school as we begin to return from summer break and prepare for the new school year. We look forward to having your child back for a wonderful new school year!

August 2021 Update

Updates have been made to our COVID-19 protocols concerning volunteers. The DCSC Board of School Trustees discussed the protocols involving volunteers at the August regular meeting.

Originally, our COVID-19 Protocol Snapshot stated "Volunteers who are fully vaccinated may be approved by the building principal." The DCSC Board of School Trustees voted unanimously to remove the vaccination requirement for approved volunteers serving in Danville Schools. Volunteers must still pass full background checks and must be approved by the building principal prior to serving in any ongoing volunteer capacity.

Please note that daily visitors will be allowed to enter the schools this year, but will be restricted to the front office only. Face masks are still recommended for both vaccinated and unvaccinated individuals while in Danville Schools.

September 2021 Update

At the meeting of the Danville Community School Corporation Board of School Trustees last night, September 13, 2021, the Board voted to:

Our other COVID-19 Protocol procedures will remain in effect at this time, including social distancing, frequent hand washing/sanitizing and frequent cleaning of school facilities. Face masks will continue to be recommended for all individuals, regardless of vaccination status. These updates will be made to the COVID-19 Protocol Snapshot and updated on our website soon.

Individuals who test positive for COVID-19 or have COVID-19 symptoms are still required to quarantine in accordance with health department guidelines.

We encourage parents and guardians to conduct daily health screenings of their child prior to sending them to school. We also ask that they DO NOT send their child to school if they are displaying any of the following COVID-19 symptoms:

  • Individuals that are displaying COVID-19 symptoms are highly encouraged to test. Please notify your child’s school nurse of any positive test results.
  • If an individual tests positive:

This could include multiple cases in a school, a classroom, at a lunch table, etc. Our nurses will monitor and report these cluster or outbreak situations to the Hendricks County Health Department.
